First time Jeep owner here.
Hey guys, I just wanted to get in on this forum because I just bought a 1968 CJ5 and already need some advice. Last night I decided to unbolt the driver's seat so I could move it up some. Currently it's a little to far back which makes it difficult for my wife to learn.
Well after I got the sucker unbolted which took atleast an hour (4 bolts), I noticed there were only two positions to move it. Can you guys possibly recommend some better seats that offer more options in position? Right now it has seats that only go mid-back and I'd rather have some full sized bucket seats if possible.

A LITTLE TOO FAR BACK!?!?!
Wow! I wish I had that problem!
I had to go with a smaller steering wheel and shorter steering column on my '78, and the seat (Corbeau A4) is butted up against the rear fender well.

I added an extra picture for you Jeepican but I'll have more this weekend after we take it out. As far as sliders, no there isn't any. I'll try to get a close up pic of the bottom of the seat and the seat bracket tonight for you guys.
My wife is about 5' 8".

X 2 on Turbogus. W/ the seat in position as it is now, look at the back of seat for clearance between it and rear fender tub. If yours is like most everyone else's, there is hardly any more room to move it back, so if you have plenty of room, then remove seat and install the slider. Most everyone has the stock one ( I know Morris does.) Before replacing the lowback seats, know that it's hard enough getting access in the back with the low seat and top in place, high's worse still.

We don't plan on anyone really getting in the back since we don't have the seat installed. More than likely we will leave it out so we can let our dog ride back there.
I'd much rather have some seats with some siding on them to help prevent sliding.

As the tub in your year is a bit limited in seat mount options, I would look to add a post '76 seat slider assembly to the bottom of the seat itself and then adapt it's new mount bolt locations to the pattern of the original frame. it will add about 1" of overal heigth to the seat but will give you slider ability to accomodate your wife.

Quadratec has the sliders. Not real expensive either. But as CJ5_fan said, may need modification.

I could be wrong on this but I think the guy said it's a 2" lift with 31" tires.

1st -- don't teach the wife to drive your jeep. It will cost you more money, cause she will want one.
2nd -- save your money until the next swap meet in your area. Pick up a pair there
3rd -- Where did they do your paint job at?
