Fender Flares

How good are aftermarket fiberglass fender flares. Are they worth buying for $50?

They aren't exactly trail friendly. Whack something on or off road and they'll crack/break. Stick with the flexible stuff.

I was thinking of lining them on the inside with a piece of peeland stick rubber. I figured ir may help absorb a rock or something small
