Ethanol should not cause running problems.

It does attack rubber o-rings, attracts water and attacks rubber hoses that are not made with Ethanol in mind. If you do not swap out any hoses in your fuel system with new ones, it is not a question of if, but when the Ethanol will attack them and cause leaks

As a heads up as well I thought I would share with you something else about ethanol. Holley street avenger carburetors that have a nickel chrome finish on them will be destroyed by it. My father owns a mechanics shop in Springfield Va and has put 3 of these carbs on 3 different engines. All of them were the same model vacuum secondary 4150 style and were installed the same year ethanol hit the market. The chrome finish on the inside of the bowls disintegrated. It turns to flakes and clogs up the floats and jets. The worse one we saw was a 350 smallblock 1969 corvette, the floats stuck open and the owner pumped at least 4 gallons of gas into the engine when he was trying to get it out of winter storage. We called Holley they said it was out of warranty and we are sol.If you run any of those nickel chrome carbs on anything I would definitely recommend pulling a bowl to see if yours is doing the same.
