Erick's cj5 build

Been "lurking" for a little while and decided to post what i have been working on. Its a 1982 cj5, smooth running 258, renegade edition. Already had a 4 inch lift when i got it but it looked like this....[IMG][/IMG]

New wheels/ tires. Removing graphics and starting body work. Had little to no rust but MANY holes drilled over the years that i had to weld up. [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Spraying the color. Its called fathom green metallic. It looks almost OD green in the shade but super metallic in the sun. Almost like a rescue green color. [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
Will post more pics after i get cage in/ trim on. After that will do some color sanding. Over all im pretty happy with it and love the color.

Nice start!

I like the color on the cage.

It is close to the powder coat on the chasis in my dragster.

I will be watching for updates.

You must be good freinds with your neighbors as when I painted a car in my garage they turned me in and I got a citation

Thanks! Yeah its pretty close to that color. My neighbors are all pretty cool. Pretty blue collar neighborhood. The one that would have turned me in is in the hospital soo....

The green looks sweet

I looked at your location and the CJ sitting in the front yard where it is obvious you primed it outside. I am surprised you didn't get hauled to jail

Thanks! Again, I have easy going neighbors. Yeah, i primed it ouside because my cage was in my "booth" drying still from color. I painted it under a tarp with walls/ fence on 4 sides- still illegal but more inconspicuous.....

I built a "Paint Booth" in my garage, keep the door down until the event and they still got me

this is exactly why i will never live in a HOA style neighborhood, i plan on not being able to see any houses through the woods at my future home.
