engine swap question from a rookie.

My first of what im sure will be many posts as I begin my adventure of building my cj5 project.. but I think its an easy one will a 258 out if a 1987 cj 7 bolt up in a 1974 cj 5 with a 258 in it? Are the motor mounts the same? If they both have manual transmission? And is there any computer gadgets required for the 87 motor? Any help will be appricated and thanks in advance.

I agree, it will bolt up no problem. I would, however, double check that the engine you are purchasing is a CJ 258, seeing as there is no such thing as an 87 CJ. Last one was in 86. If it is an 86 engine, there will be a ECM tucked under the dash you will have to deal with, shouldn't be too much of a problem, though. Just swap it and all the wiring over to the good CJ.
