Engine swap or engine and transmission swap

Hello everyone, I am planning to repair/restore/repaint my 1985 cj7. It has a inline six/5 speed. The engine needs a rebuild but I also have a 1976 cj5 w/ 304 4speed. I was concidering swaping the 304 into the cj7 but was wondering how the 5 speed would work with it. Would it be better to use the 4 speed. Is it very involved swapping out a inline 6 for a 304? I would rebuild the the 304 before it goes in as well. I have never attempted a swap before so I really dont know what all is involved in doing it.

You might want to consider a 360 instead of the 304. Much more power for same price and work

Thats a good point about the 360. The only reason on the 304 is because I have one in a 76 cj5. The cj5 is somewhat ruff.
