Engine I.D.ing

I bought this Jeep thinking it had a 304 (Vin number and P.O.). After tearing it down I discovered "360" stamped on the block. Is this a 360? Are there any other casting numbers on the engine that identifies where it came from?

All AMC V8's have the displacement cast on the block. If it says 360 it's a 360. The engine build date code on a V8 is on a small aluminum tag screwed to the valve cover. It won't tell you what vehicle it came in but will tell you the exact date of manufacture and original configuration (2bbl or 4bbl).

Ok thanks. Someone put a Dana 44 under it also. Narrower than the front by an inch or so. I was going to install a set of wide track axles I have and a automatic transmission. Make it a daily driver.
