early cj5 1960 willys resurection build thread

here it is the 60 willys build thread. cant do much being 800 miles away but I can have my dad send more pics as he tinkers with it. keep in mind that this thing was only put in a garage starting the date/timstamp of the picture and It had the he!! driven out of it while sitting in the weather for 50 years. it has always been oiled inside and out using penetrol.

i should have the floor fixed by thanks giving after i paint my 7 as i am removing the tub. already have new suspension, tires, and floor ready. i purchased 31x9.50s intercos

My dad got a quote of 750$ to blast and powdercoat the frame of the early 5.

Thank you and a lot of people have said that. Im just glad its still drivable after all the years of running the engine at 4k rpms

havent posted in a while but the work on the willys is under way. How nice of my dad to accomplish this work in the past 7 months i been gone. New tires and powdercoat oem wheels, new windshield frame from willys america, and new trans pan made by walacks. will cut opening for OD lever sometime.

Brought the old willys out for the first time in awhile and took my daughter for a ride to town in it, all bundled up as it was 35 degreese

How well did that trans pan fit? I bought one from Walcks several years ago for my '63 and the fit was terrible.

I too like the patina on this Jeep. If it were mine I'd just Clear coat over it and leave it..

The trans pan fit great other than now i have to cut it for the OD shifter. Eveybody likes the patina, it does give it character. I do have to replace the rest of the floor at some point but I just drive it from time to time now,
