Eaches in the Jeep World

I bought a 1973 Jeep the first Year AMC took over the line guess what 73-75 have certain quirks when it comes to some body parts and other parts. I got an 1980 CJ-7 guess what? The Dana 300 has a short output shaft and some of the internal bearings are different from the 81-86 Dana 300. Most of the parts work but not all and because it was a limited production some parts (output shaft) are as rare as hen teeth. Let the buyer beware.

The 1980 short output version works great in a CJ5 where wheelbase is at a premium. That's what I run and it's working great so far. If it breaks I'll upgrade.

No, 72 was the first AMC produced CJ5 although they bought the company in 71. The 72-75 models share most features, and parts aren't exactly difficult to come by.

I have a 1972 and have never had a problem finding parts. Although it may take a little more research here and there...

1972-1975 were the Intermediate years for CJ's...1972 was the first year they offered the AMC 304 and they lengthened the frame and fenders to accommodate the larger engine.
