drive shaft length

How short is to short lol? Right now I have found a pretty good deal on an old mud bogger with a 60 front and 14b rear with a 461 bb th 400 and a np208trannie. After measurements and my previous axle extention i have about 4 inches for my drive shaft lol. I plan on extending the frame another 12 inches which will give me just at 16 inches for my driveshaft total. I dont think i can extend it any more than that without railing the whole thing.

4 inches?? Wow...they make pills for that, you know.

Somehow I don't think there's only 4 inches of room in there...unless this combo is in a CJ5. Got pics? I've got a SBC, TH350, and Dana 300, which the total length of those is only a few inches less than your combination you mentioned above, and I have 20 inches for a driveshaft.

My CJ5 with the NV4500 makes for a real short drive shaft 11". No vibration issues but I do look forward to calling Tom Woods for a double cardan shaft in the future.
