No, the dodge and AMC are two completly different motors and will not bolt up without bellhousing mods or adapters.

sorry...CHRYSLER bought AMC in august of 1987.....the 360 motor was first produced in 1971 by AMC and didnt end production until 2002.....the motor was relatively the same with small modifications over the years.....i was just wondering if the would still bolt up after Chrysler started making them in 1987.....so they are not completely diffrent motors..............

Ummmmm... I belive Renault bought AMC in 84(?). A move that tainted the Jeep name to this day. Chrysler started making their 360 in the late 60's early 70's(not a Dodge guy) off the 318 platform. The AMC 360 is an extension of the 304 AMC block.

AMC's Engines and Dodges engines are different. Just because they share the same displacement, doesnt mean they are related beyond burning gas.

by the way, in the in the early to mid 60's was the 318, 340, and 360. they all shred the same block. the 318 and 360 were an option on the trucks, while the 340 motor was in a lot of the cars. the 340's were known to rev up quickly, made them good for racing.

the 360 was started in early 1970
the 360 (generation 2)came from the 343 (generation 1)motor used in the 60's
the 304 (generation 2)came from the 290 (generation 1)motor used in the 60's
the 401 (generation 2)came from the 390 (generation 1 68/69 & generation 2 70 only )
