Do I Want To Apply Hood Decals?

Nice guysnyder!

IMHO- no. your rig is clean and beautiful as-is.

I do like the looks of a FULL set of factory decals, but only on a clean, stock-bodied Jeep.

EDIT: I DO think you should paint your HT white (or perhaps black)

I love the way the decals look on the first pictured Jeep, it is very sharp. I am going to repaint in a couple years once my project is complete and was thinking about decals as well. My only concern would be that they would fade and crack before the jeep was ready to be repainted. Does anyone have a Jeep with old decals that still look new / nice?

I'm with Hoss on decals on clean stock'ers as they look when they came off the line only. As to your hardtop I agree to paint as well unless you have that color for the interior. I personally like a grey top with either blue or red bodies. But who am I kidding. One of my CJ's has a real nice brown and white tarp over it right now.

Renegade decals are cool no matter what it takes you back to the days when the Renegade was the king of 4x4 muscle. Renegade was the first name in a performance/racing off road package. A Jeep Renegade is a head turner there is something about those colorful racing stripes that is pleasing to the eye, get them!

I think if you are going to put decals and stripes on a CJ, you better find ones that are correct for model and year as they came off the assembly line. Your first photo of guysnydr's 1979 Jeep is a nicely restored example except for the non factory decals and paint color. Your 1984 model year didn't have that color blue available either so factory decals may not look right so I would just keep it the way it is without the decals.

Some colors I think need to be broken up by either a two tone paint job or some decals.. but I think your blue looks real clean just the way it is.

Love the blue jeep. Is that canyon blue? Where did you find those side steps? I've been looking for a set for my cj7 and cj8. All I can find are those cheap ones made by rampage...

As long as you don't plaster your Jeep CJ with "Rubicon" decals it will look good. The clean Jeep look is also good, but the sides of the Jeep hood are made for letterring or sme styling decals.

I get yells from people all the time "Hey Renegade!"

Keep the decals, makes it look more finished!
