I'm putting the axles back in my amc 20. I've noticed there are 5 bolt holes in the backing plate and the axle tube. I only removed 4 bolts on each side. How many bolts should there be?
Are you looking at the drain hole as the 5th one? You should have an extra hole so that if your inner seal fails you don't fill the brake drums with gear oil.
Pretty sure the FSM says 32 ft lbs for the backing plate.
