Could anyone breakdown this VIN# for me?

Are you sure that is correct?
I'll try to decypher it. 1= Country of origin. USA J= Jeep L= I think this first L is a mistake. It should be a C, E or F for type of vehicle L= 232ci engine E= Again could be a mistake. Should be a B, A, M or N for transmission 87= CJ7 E= 4,150 GVW B= 1981 T= Toledo 061808= Serial Number Check it out here http://www.jeepfan.com/tech/tech_vincj.htm |

I can't access the web site above at work so I'm not sure what it says.
On that note if your Jeep is an 81 or newer it should be 17 Characters long. |

The vin# was given in the auction for a 1985 Jeep.
