Decisions...Decisions....Help

I was planning another Jeep build and can't make up my mind....I was set on building a Scrambler (lots of $$$$$$$$$), however today I just stumbled across someone else's project that they can't start/finish and must let go... a CJ7 with a solid frame (looks new) straight body (solid floors and body mounts) with custom cage, stock axles and a Chevy 350/muncie 4speed/dana 20 combo already swapped in. Lets just say the CJ7's price is too good to be true .... So do I stay focused on the Scrambler route or jump into my third CJ7 build? I'm not much of a Chevy guy, I like my AMC V8's and I have a worked 304/th400 combo sitting around just waiting for a Jeep to be built around it. What do you guys think?

Personally, I would go with the 7. Worst comes to worse, you sell it for a profit and you are that much closer to your $crambler project.

that was a quick decision! I've always loved the scramblers, too, but price wise, you can get/build a really nice 7 (usually for less than the buy-in price on most 8's)

Yeah that's basically what it came down to is the money. The $cramblers I've seen around here can't be touched for less than $3000.00 for a complete POS, because the owners know what they have (can't blame them).

I'm pretty sure I can build this 7 super strong for alot less than that between parts I already have on hand and what it has with it. The frame and body are unbelievably solid, nothing on the body other than a few quarter size surface rust spots(zero rot through), the frame, floors, windshield frame etc. look like new. They just need to be stripped, prepped and painted.

I've seen used/beat up tubs sell for more than what I got this for.

Now the next question is do I stick with the 350/muncie/dana20 that's in it or keep it amc and drop in my 304/th400/dana20?

The plans for this one is to build it for wheeling since I already have a DD cj7 (see profile). Ford 9 inch front and rear with discs all around, 4.5 inch lift with 35's, tube fenders and tj rear flares, P/S and P/B and either a Camo or Orange paint job to start.

I heard that your turn radius sucks when you install a rear axle up front

That would work if I were running it on train tracks , I should have specified a Currie Ford 9 inch housing front and rear, the same axle set up I have in my 79 cj7 (see profile).

I woould definately keep the 350. I have a AMC 360 and would love to have the 350 instead. I know some love the AMC, but....the 350's are easy to work on and parts are easy to get and cheaper.
