Just finished up with the HOA meeting, I am not on the Board but I did get involved by volunteering to be on the Lake Management committee (1 of 2) since the fishing is important to me. Now I am gonna sneak out and PRIME my JEEP
Oh yeah Oh yeah....

I think it would be a Great idea to start a fence fund for you. Are you sure you can't build a fence over 6'. Check it out. I think I could spare $10.00 for that.

AAAARRRGGGHHHHHH! You sick puppy!
Being a volunteer with the HOA is probably a good thing! Invite them over for an outside get-together... show them your project... cook them up some Poppers... shmoooooz 'em! Accidentally forget to invite your neighbors...

I agree with skerr get the hoa folks exited about restoring a peace of history and get them on your side before the fruit cakes complain to them, so the hoa may take there complaint as the joke that it is.

Dave, I am sure that you know that you can "open carry" on your property in Texas. Just get a big "hand cannon" and wear it proudly while you are working on your jeep, or doing other work on your place.
If your neighbors would have seen you wearing a sidearm they would have just said "hi" and left! I have scared a couple of door to door solicitors when I answer the door with my pistol on my side! Just my two cents....

Dave I have had a experience somewhat like yours. I have some neighbors that live a little over 1/4 mile from me and we've never really hit it off. As you know I have a shooting bench here at my place and although it's not every weekend I do occasionally do some target practice. I also live in a rural area and there are no laws against shooting here. After a good bit of their bit..ing and threats to do so they call the law on me. The deputy came to my place not long after we quit shooting and told me that they had filed a formal complaint against me. I asked to see it, he refused. I then filled out a written statement to them stating that I knew that I was withing my right and was more than ready to defend myself in court. They then tried to get the county to shut down my business that is here at my home. Dead end for them there too. After several of their trips to the court house complaining to who would listen the sherrif told them to never call about my shooting again.
They were trying to intimidate me. After I realized that it made my resolve that much more intense to stand up for my rights. These people are doing the same thing with you. You do need to get that meter and continue with your work. If a complaint is filed an officer will come to see you. I would then ask him to record the decibles while you're working and I would file a formal statement. That way you have documentation if you get drug into court. My guess is that they will shut up and just be poor neighbors to you. Whatever you do don't let them push you around. As much as you want to be a good neighbor and a nice guy you need to stand up for your rights. As a friend told me in my ordeal, it's not just about you but about others and thier rights too.
You're on the right side of the law on this it appears to me Dave. Make them use the law to stop you, I bet they can't!!

I want to start off this morning and post some pictures of Jim’s awesome machine work. I received a set of shackle brackets early last week and pictures cannot do them justice. You have to hold them in your hand, feel the weight of what remains of solid bar stock machined to form. They are heavy in the sense you feel the strength, the shape most definitely follows Architect, Louis Sullivan’s quote…”Form…follows function.”
My intent was to replace my shackle brackets if I need to install a lift down the road. I looked at what the market offered and decided for the cost, I would weld reinforcements to a set of stock shackle brackets and move on to the next project.
In my opinion these are hands down, the best value in shackle brackets on the market. Even better, they are made right here in the USA by a Jeepforum member

Sandblasted and ready for epoxy primer...
Here are progress photos of the weekends work stripping the inside of the tub and a little exploratory surgery on the drivers side panel.
From the looks of the rust in this location, I am planning to cut the remaining metal out exposing the edge of the floor pan and replacing the lower section of the brace.
I started to spray the epoxy primer about 8:45 last night and finished at 9:30. I woke up this morning and it is was raining and about 50 degrees. The epoxy primer should cure fine though. The same thing happened when I primed the frame and the AMC 20, and the primer did a great job protecting the metal.

Hi Dave,
I meant to post this earlier, but got side tracked.
Noise levels are subjective, I have worked in construction for over twenty years with some unusual projects, but the one I remember was in central London, Parliament House. We had a decibel meter 6 foot away from an adjoining office (Whose occupants had been complaining about the noise). Thing is, we could have had a jack hammer going right next to the meter and it wouldn't reach 85 Db. Do yourself a favour and get a cheap meter from Radio Shack and record the readings. Read the instructions, the sensor should be pointing upwards and not at the source, you'll be surprised at the results, and if PC plod comes around (Police) you can easily demostrate that your neighbours are trouble makers.

I have the 50.00 radio shack version and instructions and it clearly states to point the microphone at the source on Pg. 1. It does recommend mounting to a tripod to minimize sound deflections off your body or hand. The important setting is the weighting. Setting to Weight A will evaluate the dB of an area.

Dave thanks for the kind words on the hangers. You give me much to live up to in the future in manufacturing parts! They look better sandblasted and primed too. Thanks for the business and I hope they work great for you.
You sure are thorough in getting the tub in great shape. I can't imagine any rust being left anywhere to come back later on. Great job!!!
