Dash Bar GPS mount

A few days ago, I bought a Garmin 2757LM off craigslist for a deal. It is a seven inch screen! It is big I put my old GPS (Nuvi 680 from 06) next to it for comparison and thought it;s too big! Well in fact it fit nice in the Jeep. It is big, but I can see it without glasses!

I started with a 3/16" plasma cut circle with a lower tab to mount to shaft clamp:

Welded it, ground it smooth then a coat of flat black:

After drying, I put it on the dash bar pointing straight up:

I will need one of those sticky back plastic discs for the suction cup, it does not hold well to the flat black paint:

Another major "upgrade was the Garmin 24k topo maps. I bought the southwest and south versions. All the areas we go and then some. Plus bought the funtreks AZ data card wiith active routes, it's good but I can make custom routes using Google earth, Garmin base camp and lots of couch time:

The mount is good, it does not block any vision from driver perspective, it may block the little ones view in the back but just a little:

Your in luck! I cut two and only needed one. Can you get your hands on a split shaft clamp and weld? PM me and I can send you the extra.

It took me a few looks to get that! LOL. It does look remarkably like the MF, just need to add a pair of Hyper drives.

I have not had it out yet, our first trip with it will be in a few weeks to Northern Arizona. I have had many Garmin units and have not had a problem with the suction cup as of yet, this puppy is big but the suction cup is also 1/2" larger in diameter and the ball socket seems tighter, could be my old trail unit socket is just worn out, but even that one still holds while crawling on the rocks.
