Yeah, too shallow now. Add in some shims maybe around .006 -.008 worth. Is that an Eaton locker?

I had already added 0.005". What do you think about this one?
And yes that is an Eaton E-Locker. I have used that a couple of years now and I like it.

Hmmm. Looking at the pics, I don't know if it's the camera angle but I wonder what would happen if you stuck in another .002 or so if shim. the pattern on some coast teeth looks a trifle shallow. Like I said, I can't decide if it's the camera angle.

That is much better. I would say you could run that with no problems. As already said it might improve a little with the pinion a little deeper, but not much maybe 0.002" worth. However, if you are sick of playing with it, it should be fine.

I'll add another 0.002" tomorrow after work. I'm out of garage land and back in computer land now.

I've marked the gearteeth that I think are questionable. The pattern looks high or toward the face. Is it really like that or is it camera wide angle lens distortion? The drive side of the teeth further up look pretty well centered face/flank wise.

I think it's really that high. And note that is only a 0.010" depth change from the first picture.

Well I got done tonight finally. The final pattern wound up being only 0.006" out from where it was in the first set of pictures. So is was not really "way deep" to begin with. I have found that a little bit of shims can make a lot of difference in the way the pattern looks.

I've been busy with other stuff and just finally got back to this tonight.
It took 3 tries to get to where I started on this thread. Then it took 3 more tries to get done. I think this is the quickest I ever got a setup done. Thanks to all.

Good to hear you got it all wrapped up. I thought about it the other day but figured you either got sidetracked or completed it and moved on. True what you say about small adjustments making a difference. That's the reason I tend to be conservative when suggesting adjustments but sometimes I am too conservative.

if you have a good drive side pattern and a so so pattern on the coast side , is there a way to change just the coast side or do you just run it ???
