dana 300 short or long shaft

So I'm putting an ax15 in my 1980 cj7 with an adapter from Novak. I have the original Dana 300 which is the short output shaft version, but I also have a spare Dana 300 sitting around. Either way I'm gonaa need new driveshaft. My question is which one should I go with? The long or the short shaft version? Any benefits or advantages to either one? Looking from some input from anyone. Also I plan on going through either one before install

In a CJ-7 probably no difference. In a CJ-5 it would allow for a slightly longer drive shaft.

I had a short one at one point and remember it was only an inch difference. not enough to matter. PLUS the speedo gears are easy to get on the long ones, not so on the short ones.
