Dana 30 Internal Damage.

When I removed the carrier, I found this damage inside the diff. The PO must have done it. Notwithstanding, I assume because the race sits there it is fine?

In my humble opinion I would say that's fine as long as everywhere is flush and flat from the chips.

Lookinsketchy 05-18-2013 02:02 PM

It is flat for sure.

Yep, there's no harm with that. Nothing rotates along that surface so it's not going to cause any more damage.

Are you talking about the scratches in the right side race holder? If so I think it is fine.

Lookinsketchy 05-18-2013 09:13 PM

The scratches and the chunk of metal missing from the right side race surface.

I'd run it that way. Since the bearing race sits there and there is nothing rotating on that spot, and its not the drive axle. I've wheeled worse...

Yeah, I would run it. That is not where it will fail. Just make sure you got all the debris from that event out.
