Dana 20 transfer case. Hard to find 2WH
I've had my '75 CJ5 since 1979. I've always had this problem so I was wondering. When I shift from 4WD up thru neutral and into 2WD I never feel any indication that it's in. I'm guessing there should be some ball spring that clicks into a notch in the shaft.
Is this game of hit or miss typical for the DANA's?
Is there something I can look for externally that might indicate I'm missing something, like a long hole that should have a spring and steel ball in it?
It's not that much fun to get back on the road, Shift out of 4WD and as you accelerate, have the T-case pop into Neutral. Can't be good for the gears either.
