Dana 20 from T18 or T150. Any difference?
I am searching a replacement Dana 20 for my T150 (sore subject so I won't go into details but these Dana 20's are tough!). I have come across several and need to know if there is any difference between a Dana 20 that was mated to a T18 and a Dana 20 that was mated to a T150. I am sure the bolt pattern is the same but what about the input gear? Are they also the same? Are the transfer cases interchangeable without mods? Or should I stick with Dana 20 from T150 to avoid any compatibility issues?

So the output gear of a Jeep T18 is the same as the output gear of a T150?

like everone else is sayng they are the same expect for the shift linkage tube is longer for the T-18, this is so bolth T-case shifter and transmission shifter will drop thru the same holes in the floor, jason.

Cool, that opens up my options a bit. I have seen some with the U pattern shift. Anyone using that as opposed to the straight front to back in their CJ? More than likely the floor shift cover would have to be cut? Would there be any advantage? The reason I am asking is I have about 1" body lift so the clearance is very tight to get it into 4H. I think it would probably pop out of 4H on a bumpy trail due to body flex and the shifter cover hitting the shifter.

The "U" pattern is from a J truck. The shift rods are different than the lever CJ type. If you end up with one I have a U shifter. It worked pretty slick but no 2WD low

Some of the Dana 20's from fullsize Waggys, Cherokees, and J Trucks will have a flange type yoke for attaching the driveshafts. You can swap the "U bolt" type yokes easy enough.
