DANA 20 shift pattern

New to Jeep thing, want to know if Dana has 5 shift locations. Have a 77 CJ5 with 258 and 3 spd. PO installed billiard balls for shift knobs so no pattern. Seems to have 4hi 2hi N 2lo 4lo by watching front shaft turn. Online parts places don't show this pattern for replacement knobs in pics. Any help would be appreciated.

1979 Renegade, AMC 360, PS Crusher Corners, PS Rock Sliders, 4" Procomp Lift, 33x12.5 Remington Mud Brutes, DC10 15x10 Wheels.

Thanks, found in an old thread that 2lo comes from t case being worn and not going into 4lo all the way

yep, mine goes into 2lo, which i found pretty confusing at first as i didn't know this was possible, it's not the most useful thing, but i think it's kinda cool

If it's not leakin', it's probably empty '84/'77 CJ7 Ford 302 4bbl Holley

2lo is a result of the linkage getting worn, not the transfer case. Slop develops in the linkage allowing the shift rod for the rear output to go into low range while the shift rod for the front output is still in neutral.

With fresh linkage parts both shift rods engage low at the same time. You can actually shim the slop out of the linkage by adding AN washers and each connecting point, but having 2lo can be useful.
