D18 to D20 swap?

Would it be possible to swap a Dana 20 in place of my d18 for better choice in rear axles? I have multiple of each case.

Thanks

Do you have the big bore, large intermediate shaft D18?

I believe it an 1 1/8 int shaft unit. Its been a year since I rebuilt it. I am familiar with the internals and such. Just never tried to hook them together

Too bad you're so far away. I'd make an offer on your D18, but shipping would be too much.

Do you have the big bore D18 like CSP mentioned they were made thru the 60's till 71 I think. That is the only one you can swap out with D20. You can take D18 guts and put them in a D20.

What I was trying to do. I just want to bolt up a 20 in place of my 18 for the centered output.

Is that measurement the input bore size?

Is the bolt pattern the same between bore sizes? If it is, could the smaller size be bored to the larger opening?
