Crazy idea door mod?

Anyone considered or actually did it?
Graft the door openings from a CJ-7 or Wranger to a CJ5 for the added size or make it easier to find doors etc?
Would be a short wheel base CJ7/Wrangler...

I tried google again and found a thread on it...

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/cj...ng-cj5-433079/

Now that I checked its useless.
So seriously, why not?
So you have to trim the fender well a little and you actually get to move the seat back a little thats actually a plus for me.
I've been contemplating getting a heavy sewing machine and sewing up my own top so that is easily handled if I can make a CJ7 door work well on the CJ5 intermediate body/windshield.

I would modify the door, not the body. You wouldn't have a CJ 5 anymore if u did that. I was thinking about cutting up some YJ doors to fit my 5. I'm sure someone has tried, maybe they could post it up here?

I can see a problem with the window but that could be worked around. IDK, just an idea...

I have one last question...
Is the entire 7" increase difference in the CJ5 and 7 all in the door?

There's actually a 10" difference in the two (from '72 up) and its all between the firewall and rear wheel well. My guess is that most, if not all of it is at the door opening

I saw one time of an intermediate cj5 that had the door openings modded to resemble cj7 openings. It looked ok and the work done was excellent but imho it ruins the identity of a cj5.
