Cooling Question

I was thinking of adding an electric fan on my I6. I really just want to use it when Im stuck in traffic on the highway and when wheeling. I would like to keep the mech. fan, just use the electric fan to supplement the stock fan.

Is this a stupid idea?

If your jeep is a daily driver (read: how likely are you to get stuck in traffic on a frequent basis?) and the cooling system is becoming inefficient, then I guess it wouldn't be such a bad idea, but I haven't seen a need for one so far, and it's not like my cooling system is brand new.

No it's not. Is for the CJ or the Wagoneer? I'm not sure how much room is front of the Wagon rad, bot the CJ room is tight for a pusher fan. I had to space my CJ's radout about 1" (closer to the engine) to fit an electric. I live in the Southwest where 110 degrees is common in the summer. My CJ's temp stays around 185 degrees.

Ya sorry it's for the CJ. It's not necessarily a DD, just when the weather is nice. I live in Austin, TX so traffic tie-ups are quite frequent. It's not like I run hot, just don't want it to... ya know... I have plenty of room between the fan and the rad so I don't think that'll be an issue...
