Convoluted Shock Boots

What do you guys think of the silicone rubber shock boots that some shocks come with? They seem like a dirt trap to me that could lead to the shiny shafty thing corroding. Leave em' or leave em' off? They do have that cool factor us 50 year olds need.

Left mine off. Personal preference more than anything.

I'm thinkin about leaving mine off too--they don't seal around the upper part of the shock so I'm sure junk will accumulate there.
