Convince me that I dont want this

Have not even looked at it yet, the frame is swiss cheese for all I know.
The body looks pretty good for the age and the right hand drive is pretty cool.
I don't need another project but this thing is calling my name in a pretty sexy voice.
Heck, she might buff out and make a quick flip.

Sounds like you want it, go get it. You will of course be getting a project though and from your interest in it, I doubt you will flip it.

I was all ready to write up a long and boring post, describing the horrors (and expense) of restoring a 50 year old piece of junk... Then I saw the right hand drive.

Bro, you need to get that! Do nothing to it other than safety related upgrades and a possible full resto.

That CJ is UBER COOL!!!!

I have 4 right hand Jeeps, 2 CJ7s, a J20 and an XJ Cherokee.

I have previously owned numerous right hand drive Jeeps and they are as God intended, changing stick with your right hand is just not right!!!!!!!

Looks super clean and all there, it would make a great resto project or just to hang out in. The only downside is the early Cj5 is more tractor than car, they are just not as relaxing to drive as a late 70s or 80s CJ (SO YOU MUST NOT BUY IT).

I was at an auction in Kearney last week where a '78 dj5 (right hand drive....2wd) went for $5400. It was painted an aweful purple and was missing a lot....like any kind of doors, any type of top, seat belts, dash gauges, decent rims and tires. Apparently, right hand drive is worth a lot around here. May be a good investment.

Where are you at in NE jeepjerry?

The dj5 I wrote about was the jeep I went to the auction for hoping to get it for under 1500, but was willing to go a bit higher if need be. Obviously, I didn't get it. I did however purchase an '83 cj7 in much nicer condition than the dj for $3500. Go figure. There must've been a few bidders in the crowd that were enamored with the right hand drive.
