Looks like you guys had a *blast*

My oldest bailed out to spend time with her future dorm mate but me and my youngest were on the range at 7:30.

The day of shooting went great. Us guys had a choice, meet up with Mike and shoot or go shopping with our wives. Now that don't take a brain surgeon to figure out what works best! I also remembered thinking while I was driving Mike's CJ that I really need to get mine done!!

My friend, Dalt had a 300 winchester in a Remington model 700 Sendero. We put the scope on it Friday night and he really wanted to sight it in. We shot it and Mike's muzzle-loader at 50 yards and they both were on the paper. After a little adjustment we moved back to 100 yards and shot. Mike's rifle was still on the paper and doing great, open sights too, and Dalt's 300 needed a little more work but after a bit and a 3 shot group it was on the money. That group in the bull's eye was maybe the second time he's ever shot the thing. Not bad. Yep we all like to shoot!!

Thanks Mike for a great time of shooting, and trusting me with the CJ.

That really was a great looking and shooting rifle. I never did shoot the 300 but I have a feeling my .50 was kicking just as hard.

Just picked up a new mountain bike and took it for my first 10 mile ride. It's a new to me 2006 Gary Fisher Cake 3DLX. I need to get into shape for various reasons and I think this will help a lot. First impression, I love it!

Nice bike you got there! I really like the disc brakes. How many speeds does it have? 10 miles goes fast on a bike. It always amazes me at what you can sneak up on with a bike. Deer don't seem to be too alarmed by it and I've road right up on people, thought that got me a cussin.

Your 50 cal. muzzleloader does kick harder, trust me.

That is a nice bike. I also recently picked up a bike. Mine is a 2012 Haro Flightline 2 29er. It's not a full suspension bike, though.

^^^ Nice. I had been looking for a front suspension hard tail for several months on CL. I found a couple good deals but they didn't work out in the end.

A friend and I went to a bike store and rode the Trek 29" Mamba and Cobia. They were nice but didn't really feel like $800-1100 bikes. The cheaper Mamba actually felt better to me but the derailleurs were clunky when shifting under heavy load and the shock felt way too soft. The Cobia was puking fluid out of the front fork and the seal popped out of position three times on a 10 minute test ride so I wasn't really impressed with that.

We were planning to test ride the new Giant, Specialized, etc.,. but this deal popped up on CL so I snatched it up for $550. The guy took really good care of it and it looks like it was not ridden very much. It really is in great condition. My only beef is that it is a 17.5" frame when I really should have gotten a 19" so I have the seat pretty high. I might get some 1-2" raised handlebars to sit me upright a little bit but for now it rides nice. I need to pick up some bar ends and toe-clips at some point too.

Thanks Jim. Front suspension and disk brakes were my two prerequisites while I was shopping around, I just couldn't pass up the deal on this full suspension bike. It is a 27 speed bike and weighs right at 30#. I took it for a ~4 mile ride the day I got it and yesterday was my first full ride.

My friend tells me his course through the city park system is 7 miles in 45 minutes. He takes me out for my easy "break in ride", I mean break in me not the bike, and we somehow went 10 miles in 51 minutes. That bastard! We are going to a state park later today for more single track trails.

You're right about being able to sneak up on things at speed. When I first got my Specialized in college, I threw it in the back of a friends truck and got a ride to the top of the pass. It was mainly just a winding dirt road back down the pass to get back to camp.

I was only about a mile into my trip when I came around the bend into a group of 6-8 elk slowly crossing the road. I was doing pretty good speed as I laid on the brakes, was sliding the rear out on the gravel, and ended up having the most graceful crash you could ever imagine.

So there I am laying on the ground with my bike still under me about 15 feet from these massive animals and I'm sure they were just as surprised as I was. Several of them just kept their pace across the road like they didn't even know I was there. Two of them stopped and looked at me as I sat there very still on the ground until one of them finally spooked off the road so the last one followed. It was kind of scary but also very cool to stare them down at such a close distance. In real time it was probably about 4-5 seconds but it felt much longer while it was happening. If they would have decided to cross just a little closer to the bend, I would have physically ran into one of them.

Maybe we ought to take your bike elk hunting! Man the bike looked brand new, hard to believe it's used.

Couple of years ago I was doing 22 miles in 1 hour 45 minutes. Made my legs feel like jelly by the time I was done. I'm riding on these gravel county roads close to home for now, safer, but it seems like it's allot tougher going. Great exercise though.

That's a pretty good ride Jim. So far my longest ride has only been about 11 miles. We are trying to keep our rides to about an hour work out.

I took off the soft top today. I took off the frame loops but left on the body rails.

My old bikini top had a busted strap loop. I had it rigged up but it would slowly work its way loose. So I bought a new one for $40 last September when they were on closeout.

Got it all installed. Here is a picture of my two current rides.

Here's another one with the new mountain bike. My only other vehicle missing from the picture is my 2007 R6 track bike.

That's a sweet bike! I don't think I've ever seen wheels with spokes like that, must be super light. Love the color too!

^^^ You ride your bike like you drive your Jeep, time to take the training wheels off.

I put nine miles on mine today. Saw two snakes on the single track trails. One of them was snapping at us.
