Okay, thanks. No need to find the pics if it was there from the factory. That's mainly why I was asking for pictures of it, so I could see if it was because I wanted to enclose that whole beam to keep gunk out. I'm going to plate over those drain holes across the underside so it will be totally entombed. I was also thinking maybe cut an access rectangle on the gas tank side and screw a sealed cover over it, but would I really ever need it and it could be cut in at that time if I ever did.

Yeah, I can't image you would never need to get into there again. It does give you direct access to the body mount captured nut but I think the tailgate capture plate might be out of reach. I would just do what you said, fix what you need and seal it. You can always cut in an access point later if you ever need to get in there again.

.

Your CJ deserves to be on the cover of JP magazine IMO.

You also have the photographer skills to boot...so here is your chance:

http://forums.jpmagazine.com/70/9046...est/index.html

Looking forward to seeing your rig on there!

Thanks guys. I just borrowed a 10.1 mega pixel camera from a friend. Now I just need to find a good place to take a photo with a decent background so it doesn't look like a total poser shot.

Awesome jeep! first time poster with a question you probably already covered, but I didn't see it. I am doing the ford fuel injection on my cj7 as well. Already has the truck 302 from an 89. Have almost everything ready to go in. My question is what VSS (vehicle speed sensor) did you use? I have a dana 20 transfer case and would like to still use my mechanical speedo cable. Again awesome jeep. I hope mine will turn out half a good some day.

Thanks guys. That reminds me that I need to go see Andy play again. It's always fun to watch him put a different twist on the Devil went down to Georgia. (skip to 4:00 if you don't want to watch the entire song.

I hope to get the CJ out and dirty this summer.

Thanks for the comments and the post. I can't really help you with the VSS question because I don't run one. I only have the cable from the D300 to the stock speedometer so I don't have a VSS input going to the PCM. Since I'm not running an automatic transmission, it really doesn't need one.

I forgot to throw in a good shot of my Ground Pounder Fab rear bumper, thanks again Eddie (Besrk).

Well now that it's been offpavement, as CJs should be, when can we see some serious mud hangin all over it?

Mike,

I've followed your build with great interest, and have learned a great deal. Your skills and competence in several areas is very obvious.

I'd like to pass on a trick I learned years ago from a PPG marketing rep regarding the use of paint strippers. In addition to scuffing the surface as you suggested, he said to put a thick coat of the product on the surface to be stripped, and then cover it with a layer or two of newspaper, causing the fumes to "stew and brew", without drying as quickly. Give it some time to work, and as a bonus, the paint sticks to the paper and is easily disposed of. Usually one application does the trick, which is good, as there are diminishing returns with subsequent applications.

Also, when I saw you add the receiver to the front bumper, I thought that would be a natural spot for a license plate.

Again, congratulations on your one of a kind CJ!

Frank
