Clutch recommendations/opinions wanted

1976 304/T150/10-spline

Looking for clutch and throw out bearing replacement recommendations/opinions as in brand, model, etc.

Also, does the T150 have a 1 1/8 or 1 1/16 shaft?

From Jeeptech.com

The T-150 is a strong 3 speed transmission with a cast iron case. I has a casting number of 2603983 or 2603347 on the drivers side and 2603357 on top. The input shafts is 1 1/8" 10 spline and the output is 1 3/8" 6 spline.

Usage
The T-150 was used in CJs from 1976 to 1979.

Transmission 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Rev
T-150 2.99 1.75 1.00 3.17

Cant tell you much about clutch stuff though... sorry

Might save aq couple of bucks to use a chevy pickup disk instead of the jeep one. same shaft setup. We all know how the word jeep adds to the price of anything. You would need to find out what you're clutch diameter is.

Unless you're using some high HP engine, a stock clutch kit (disc, pressure plate, throwout and pilot bearing) from the local parts store is fine. I ordered a LUK clutch kit for mine, wanting to try something new - it seems to work fine, but makes a little whizzing noise with the clutch in. I've replaced the clutch linkage and triple-checked the adjustment and it is fully engaging and disengaging, but it still whizzes......

Generally, if you hear a noise with the pedal to the floor, it's your input shaft bearing. Did you replace that when you did the clutch?

Centerforce

I have a centerforce II in my 258/t-18 combo and it works great. I know a guy that had a Centerforce III and he burned it up on his toyota FWIW.

Whizzing noise is usually the throwout bearing in the clutches that I have had. I backed the fork off just a tad until it quit contacting. Mine also went away after driving it a while. I noticed this on a few cars that I've had. Once they break into my driving style as opposed to the previous owners. Odd that it would be this way, but sometimes it is. With a new setup though, input shaft or throwout bearing.

I put a Luk in my CJ. I used the 11" clutch when doing it. I like the clutch but the throwout bearing was junk in a year.

Yep - new pilot bearing and throwout bearing. What mxg342 says doesn't make me feel any better - the throwout bearing came greased, but it had a grease fitting. I put some more grease in just to make sure it was fully greased before installation, but the fitting doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. Hopefully it'll go away after driving it awhile.
