Clutch Pedal Jumps to the Floor

Any body know what I can do to keep my clutch pedal from jumping down to the floor. When I engage the clutch, when I get it a few inches down, it snaps to the floor and I have to use my foot to pull it back up (like a motorcycle shifting gears) Any body ran into this? thanks

sounds to me like the linkage is off. Traveling too far. ii'd watch it do this as someone is working it. i bet it'll be clear what the prob is.

yeah its got the spring on. The linkage is adjusted all of the way out, so I can't tighten the slack any more.

Well it could be the bell crank is backwards and your overcentering the clutch. There is a point were pushing against the diaphram in that it reaches a point were it stops pusing back and the pedal drops to the floor and wont return because there is not enough force pushing back.

This happened to me when I first got my CJ. My problem was the PO never put the pivot ball in place inside the bell housing, and the clutch fork was not close enough to the push rod. Just one possibility.
