clutch disc question

When I put my foot on the clutch pedal, does the clutch disc stop spinning, does it spin in netural? The spring pack is very close to the three fingers on the clutch disc cover and if the disc continues to spin the three fingers on the clutch disc cover will hit the spring on the cutch disc

If it's in gear and you're moving, it keeps spinning. I you put it in neutral, it may or may not stop. Either way, that stuff shoud not be able to hit. What did you do?
