Clutch bolts

I am changing out a clutch on a 81 cj5. And the shoulder bolts bottom out on the shoulder of the fly wheel. This leaves space between the pressure plate and flywheel. Did they have lock washers on them from the factory. I was thinking of putting on a set of grade 8 lock washers to take the space up so the plate snuggs down. Thanks

Yes, I believe they did. I usually replace mine with Mr.Gasket replacement bolts with washers.

They came with washers only on the 2.5 and diesel. There are a number of different bolts listed, have you got the ones that came with your flywheel? The 258 and 304 used the same bolts.

Cool, the flywheel threads are usually a little inset for machining, it is possible that it has machined to the point were it has bought the threads to the edge. ARPs are first rate so good choice. The parts house usually has Mr. Gs in stock is why I use them, they are probably made by ARP but I don't know that for sure.

Good luck.
