Why not work on it, resolved to find another? Unless your time would be better spent doing some other project, it could be a good learning process… I usually have big gaps in time/money between projects, and that is how I learned quite a bit!!!

That's exactly what I thought I was going to do. I figured I could handle the flat areas. Maybe even some of the smaller curved areas. But there is so much rot. After looking around, lifting the edge of the glass seal, there is more around the glass. The inside of the frame probably looks like a smokers lungs! I don't have the tools. My anvil is a piece of railroad rail! Money is too tight to experiment with right now. However, if I can't find a decent replacement for a reasonable price, I may be forced to do something with it.

One of those is a NIB aftermarket WS frame. I'm going to try and find an OEM first before I tangle with the frustration of making one of the new models fit. I sent an e-mail to the third guy, and I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me make a roadtrip down to Ft. Pierce, where I came from, to pick up the roller, which is the second guy.

I thought I read that a 7 windshield frame will also fit a 5??????

I am 95% sure 5 and 7 frames are interchangable.

I would look at that aftermarket one I have a fiberglass one and granted the windshield isnt is in it fits great.

Thank you Mr. Jim. I have had a great birthday. I got a speed square, a bucket tool bag insert, and some knobs for my Jeep dash. In addition to that, I did a lot more welding too. It's hard to believe that I'm 17.

Thanks a bunch.

You're welcome Clay. Those bucket tool bags are neat.

Sounds like you're enjoying the welding classes. Be sure and post some more pictures of your welds, we like seeing that stuff and it brings back lots of memories to us older guys, like your dad's age.

Keep up the great work on the CJ too.

I would love to hear how your WS fitment goes. I sought advice from one of the Jeep Gurus, and he clarified that 76-86 CJs will interchange. Possibly YJs, but you get into other mods with them, so I will stay away. I really should try to do something with my WS, just to try, but I am still going with one that is in better shape.
