Just tell clay to 'pass it on'. I can probably greyhound bus everything for $50 or less.

now don't get in to much of a hurry as I have been working 6days a week! Lol. So it may be a week but I will get it boxed! Do you guys need any hard parts? Engine items? Belts? Hoses? I can get them at work with a discount and throw them in also.

I just want to see him cruising around in this thing!

Maybe you can clay can put me on the list for a pair of bumpers when he starts welding like a trained robot! Lol

Scott, the pictures we talked about. The body support pictures, the left side is the back. And are of my 1980 CJ 5. My 1979 CJ 7, is exactly the same.

Guys, opinions on the rear most body mounts, on Clays Jeep. Would this be the best, on the glass tub. Or would later style mounts, be better.

You Da Man, Ben! No rush... we're still squaring the tub up on the frame, then we gotta pull it again. We have a little ways to go yet. I'm sure Clay would be glad to weld up anything for you! He was looking at daimond-plate at Lowes this evening. He wants to build a console out of it (ugh- ain't gonna let him!). It's on clearance for $12 per 1' X 2' piece.

non-tilt, but tilt is one of thhose things we hope to do at some time in the not-too-distant-future.

I don't see why that wouldn't be enough to support this glass tub. There were no rear tub bushing mounts on it when we acquired it, but I thought that was a PO thing. Mounting those straps would be much easier than fabricating and glassing some kind of mounting system to accomodate the crossmember. Thanks for the pics, Bill. And I sure enjoyed chatting with you.

Scott I've been thinking of something for several days about the bottom of the tub. You've got the 2x6 running length ways and thats strong enough for a pickup bed but you're relying on the glass for strength from side to side. To me that needs improving. You've got room to run something, angle iron or maybe better yet a couple of pressure treated boards, to tie the 2x6 together. I can help but think it would be a good thing to do.

I also think you need to have something under the very back above the rear crossmember and tie it in the way the factory has done. If you don't I'm afraid where you guys glass the hole in where the tailgate is later on it'll crack or bow. Just my thoughts.

I agree with Jim. 5/4's x 4 x width, would be good. My #1 choice would be 1/4" x 1 1/2" aluminum angle. Bolted on with 3/8" SS carriage bolts, fender washers on the top, and never-seize.

I will look closely at this Jim and Bill. You are saying that the middle stringer is going to flex between the two outside stringers? Walking around in the back right now shows some flexing between the stringers, but it very slight. We have the tub centered back on the frame so we can determine where to weld in the crossmember. I'll have to make a decision about how to mount/secure the rear of the tub, either with bushings/crossmember, or the metal straps Bill has suggested. It could be something that is incorporated together, maybe. I'll get my oldest son to stop at Metal Masters and get some pricing on aluminum angle. I don't much like the idea of having more bolt heads showing through the finished glass, however. Thanks for the insight. I know for sure that I don't want to go through the work of filling in that hole, making it look good, painting it, then have it crack in a year or two!

Scott you could use lag screws and not go all the way through the tub, just into the 2xs.

Scott this here's the tag off the Dana 30 that I took outta my CJ. Maybe somebody can help out with what gear ratio it is. Got the rear 20 too.

3.31 for sure. It even gives you the tooth count on the gears at 43-13.

The rear has a letter code on a flat spot, between the diff cover and axle tube plug weld hole. Right side, looking at the cover.

Bill- I forgot to address the brake boosters. That is exactly what I have. Thanks for clearing it up.

Jim- Thanks for checking on the ratios. I know someone here can tell me right off, but let me do a little research on the 3:31s... don't know that they will be a great improvement over 2:72.
