Well Scott I sure hope Beth feels better. Hope none of the rest of you catch it. There's more important things in life than CJ's.

Thanks Jody. Clay did get some glass work done today. On the fiberglass tub in the kids bathroom! We did get some good rain today, so that's a plus.

I wanted to update Clay's welding! He is coming along very well, and I am kind of boggled by how fast he is going. I hope he retains everything. Here are pics of his vertical groove weld. These are two 1/4" plates witha 1/4" gap between them, held together with a strip of flat stock. The idea is to fill the void with three passes. First, he had to pass the visual inspection. Tomorrow, he will learn how to "scarf", some kind of cutting tip that will remove the flat stock, and then they will cut out two samples and stress test them for strength. He thinks it will pass. I'm looking forward to him welding up his crossmember!

Clay that looks like you got it right. Looks like you didn't have to grind very much off either and there doesn't look to be any pits in your welds. Very well done young man!!!

Thanks, Jim, for your comments. Clay came home with his test samples today. The teacher cut out two samples from his piece. One piece was bent one way (Face Bend) and the other is bent the other way (Root Bend). It is supposed to bend without breaking. He PASSED!! Atta Boy!
