Ken the pressure switches you are talking about are in series with the clutch. The Low Pressure one stops the compressor so that you do not go into a vacuum and draw air into the system. The High Pressure shuts the compressor off before you burst the refrigerant lines also wired in series with the clutch.

Right. Scott said the computer was throwing a code and he though it may be related to the fact that it was looking for switches that are not there, since he doesn't have AC on his rig. Those switches are integral to the proper function of an AC system, and should not be bypassed on a working system.

I have an A/C relay in place, so that won't do it. This stuff is waaay beyong my thinking ability! Let me try measuring the resistance, as Ken mentions. But I sure like the idea of twisting wires together!! Thanks, Ken, for following up on this. I intend to install a CEL on Clay's dash, but there's no point if it is always going to be on.

Skipper look at the bottom of the diagram in the middle you will see what is called a AC sense switch, that's the dohickey you need or simulate it.

But I don't have anything from the dash panel? I have only the under-hood stuff. Should I try to locate that sensor under the dash?

You see him smiling? He planned to put the big medical box in the back of his Jeep, but it doesn't fit with the rollcage bars back there. You should have seen his lip hit the ground! But he got re-energized when he realized it will fit on his hitch mounted cargo rack!!

He also got these rusty 'ol nasty things...

They look almost like giant pipe cutters, but I don't think they are, therefore I will give up and ask. What are they?

If you had guessed giant pipe cutters you would have been correct! Ridgid brand. Oldies but goodies... for cutting tubing, DOM, etc...

Scott, Being realistic I doubt you could expect any better gas mileage from Clays Jeep, than what you posted in SloKens thread. Our ,94 YJ with the 4.0, automatic, 3.07 gears,stock tires, tuned up, and no lift, only got 16 mpg at 70 mph/2000rpm, this was with a light right foot, and me being overly conscious of mpg's. add in Clay's lift and oversized tires, I think your lucky to be getting 14/16 mpg's, and you can't be certain of the mileage, because its a guessing game because you haven't corrected the speedo. I would guess your getting closer to 12/13 mpg's.

The best combined mileage I've Calculated with the '05 Rubicon , with a cautious right foot is 17.2 mpg's. this is with a lock-up torque converter, and a overdrive tranny. Tires are 245.75.16.(30.5.9.50 tire) with 4.10 gears.
