clacking taping knocking sound question

My jeep has a clacking taping knocking sound when cold (I know its hard to describe the sound) . But if i give it a little gas the sound is gone. And when it comes back its not constant, it comes and goes. When it warms up the sound is all gone. The motor is strong, has about 30-35psi oil pressure when cold and around 15 when warm. And when its warm the motor sound as good or better than most new motors (or rebuilt ) and its good and strong.

Sorry its an82 i6 almost all stock emesions stuff removed thanks for the help

Could just be the oil has to work its way to the top of the engine. I know sometimes when I start mine it will make the sound you described (I guess), but it will only last a second until the oil circulates.
