cj8 scrambler?

my dad is looking at an 83 scrambler. they're asking 3000, its got 175000 miles, and a broken speedometer and gas gauge. 258 manual trans, he said it didn't look lifted, or like it had large tires. is that a fair price?

$3000 for just about any scrambler that isn't completely rusted out is a good deal around here

Rust. If it's not rusted out, everything else can be fixed.

Rear frame rusts badly
Tub under the doors
Bed
Floorpans
Front fenders back around where they meet the firewall
Body mounts

Look for RUST. That is the only thing that will make a Jeep not worth fixing.
