CJ7 Tub questions

I just bought a CJ7 tub and I have a questions about the size. It's about 200 miles away so I was wondering if the tub will fit in a full size Chevy truck? Really more concerned about width more than length. Is the width of the tub smaller than between the fender wells of the truck?

I'm sure you could fandangle something, get good strap though.

I say this from experience......It will slide right in with about a half inch to spare, as long as theres no fender flares on it. It will sit up on the wheel wells, and people will look at you funny going down the highway, but I did it with no problems.

You can haul a CJ in the back of a pickup truck as long as the space between the inner fender wells are at least 5'-2" wide. My pickup truck is not, only 49.5", so I had to haul it on top of the bed rails.

Or, you could cut it in half!

Very good company here. I love my Ford Super Duty.

I saw a complete CJ2A in the back of a pickup truck once at a Jeep Jamboree. He brought it in the truck, unloaded it with ramps, and put it back in at the end of the weekend.

What did you have to pay for the tub?

Another Ford toting a tub around. Fits fine. I put it on myself.

I brought my YJ tub home in my GMC 1500 6' bed. I had 4 milk crates and 2 2x4's going across and it was the perfect height for the tub to sit above the wheel wells. Tailgate was open and no front clip obviously and just used a few ratchet straps to hold it down. Me and a buddy did the same thing with his King ranch Ford when I bought my 16' Carolina skiff! No motor or trailer just loaded the boat in the back and strapped it down. It was pretty damn funny to see, wish I took pictures

$350.00 it's in decent shape a little work will have to be done on the body mounts, but pretty solid overall.

Thanks for all the responses. I've decided to take a small utility trailer since there will only be me and the owner loading it. I have a 2500 HD with lift kit so it might be difficult to get in.

A completely stripped down CJ-7 tub only weighs 225lbs. Two people can handle that.

We could handle it, but my truck is over chest high with the tailgate down. I'm not sure I want a back problem that bad. It will be easier with the trailer.

Agree, we just leaned one end on the tail gate, lifted the front and pushed it right in.
