CJ7 stalls when I slightly hit the gas

I have a 1981 CJ7 Laredo. It has a 258 straight 6 4.2L in it. I replaced the carb and upgraded to a DUI HEI distributor about 3 months ago. I had an exhaust manifold vacuum leak and it would die when he the throttle was pushed to the floor. I changed manifold gaskets and it was running great after. The other day it stalled on me. The jeep cranks, idles great, it accelerates great except if I slightly press throttle it does. I can put it to the floor and it revs great. Only does when I barely accelerate slightly. Any help would be great

HI there is NO vacuum at the exhaust manifold.. Though it well effect the way the motor runs you just had an exhaust leak.. usually a stumble or stall when barely touching the pedal is a accelerator pump problem.. tho sometimes timing well do that as well. Look down the inside of the carb (motor NOT running ) and see if you get a shot of fuel when you barely move the linkage. if not a good shot then I'd say accelerator pump (its inside the carb)..
good luck
