CJ7: Oil leaks, vacuum leaks and suspension squeaks

So I bought an 87 wrangler (broken frame) to part out and an 86 CJ7 to turn into a daily driver/weekend warrior. There's numerous issues with the CJ, but it makes the 40 mile round trip to work each day, the 4x4 works, so I can't complain.

First, the specs, then my questions:
258 with 148xxx, weber carb in place of bbd (love it), d30, t-5, d300, d44. It has some homemade shackles that fit 33's, however the ride sucks. I get about 14.1 mpg, starts instantly, and has zero idle problems. I do have what sounds to be a stuck lifter (tap, tap, tap) and oil around the valve cover and underneath near the rear main seal area.

I've been changing the oil quite frequently (3 times in 1000mi) since it was thrashed and then let sit by the PO. But, now that the oil coming out isn't a thick sludge, the oil spot in my alley is getting larger each night. I did throw some Seafoam in the crankcase and fuel to clean things up.

Questions:
1. How do I proceed with the oil leak? I searched the forum (very helpful), and the consensus seems to be check valve cover then rear main seal. The CJ has the plastic cover, but my YJ has an aluminum; should I start by swapping to the metal cover (new gaskets, etc.) then work to the oil pan gasket and rear main?

2. I have a mess of vacuum lines and I want to eliminate as many as I can; someone mentioned that all i need is the distributor vacuum advance. Is this true? Fuel tank vent line; what do i do about this?

3. i'm hosing my suspension bolts with PB blaster every couple nights in prepartion of a new lift. Will a BDS 3" still let me keep my 33's? I'd like to get back to a uniform suspension.

4. one last thing; nuttering and team rush(ing). i've heard nothing but good things about these two cheap mods. how much wiring can i get rid of with these two mods? I'd like a clean, simple engine bay.

I'd like to thank everybody in advance and also thank the numerous posts from the past that i've read, over and over. I'll try to get some pics up of everything this weekend.
