Models are: CJ-5, CJ-6, CJ-7 and CJ-8 or better know as the Scrambler.
Trim packages: Basic, Tuxedo, Golden Eagle, Levi's Edition, Renegade, Laredo
Special trim packages: Spring Edition, Jamboree(1982), Silver Anniversary(1979 CJ-5), CJ-7 Limited(1982-83)

These are the ones I know of and there is no VIN numbers to confirm what they were. Just decals and plagues and numbers for the special ones like Jamboree.

ok thanks for your help. i just bought mine from my wifes grandpa and it had chrome wheels that some people are claiming to be off the laredo package but it has had some stuff changed by the previous owner before my wifes grandpa got it. it doesnt look to have had any decals but it does look to have been painted within the last few years i think the po got in over his head and was just throwing parts at it.

Also CJ2a, CJ3a, CJ3b, CJ6, CJ6a and CJ5a in addition to the models listed by Keith. But you are talking about trim levels, not models.

In 1973 there was the Super Jeep package. Mostly a bunch of stripes if that's what makes a Jeep super.

1986 only had Base model, Renegade and Laredo. Chrome wheels were standard issue on the Laredo but optional on Renegade.

CJ Renegade
Equipment in addition to, or in place of, items found on the base CJ:
Interior: black, garnet or honey denim-look vinyl high-back front bucket seats and matching fold and tumble rear bench seat + courtesy lights + day/night rearview mirror + glove box lock + intermittent wipers + soft-feel sport steering wheel
Exterior: P235/75R15 black Wrangler steel radial tires + Polyspare spare tire with cover + rocker panel protection moldings + special Renegade exterior graphic treatment with striping in yellow, blue or red + underhood light + 15"x7" white painted steel wheels with chrome hub covers

CJ Laredo
Equipment in addition to, or in place of, items found on the base CJ:
Interior: black and gray or honey and dark honey Celtic grain vinyl high-back front bucket seats and matching fold and tumble rear bench seat + center console + color-keyed interior with removable indoor/outdoor carpeting + courtesy lights + day/night rearview mirror + glove box lock + intermittent wipers + leather-wrapped steering wheel and grab handle + pinstriping on instrument panel + special door trim panels (hard top) + tachometer and clock
Exterior: black rocker panel moldings + extensive chrome trim + Laredo hood decal + P235/75R15 outline white letter Wrangler steel radial tires + Polyspare spare tire with cover + soft top in black, white or honey, or optional black hard top with "Gray-Tone" deep tinted glass or honey hard top with "Bronze-Tone" deep-tinted glass + special striping in silver and gray or brown and gold + textured overlay panel in hard door insets + underhood light + 15"X7" chrome steel wheels with chrome hub covers

Plus there was a bunch of other options you could get on all the CJ models.

I love how the ad refers to the Super Jeep as "She". I can't imagine that in a modern Jeep ad.

With today's politcal environment AMC would be sued for being "sexist".

Here is a site with some of the original sales brochures. I think the Golden Hawk was only available in late 1980 models. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/jeep.html
