CJ7 Laredo Seat Restoration

As everyone knows these seats are getting harder and harder to find...

Has anyone tried restoring the older bestop seats to look like them?

Attached are pics of the two pieces I'm looking to combine...The seats and a re-upholstering set. What do you guys think?

Those re-upholstering sets are not designed for that shape of a seat. Keep looking, up to 1990 YJ as well.

Man I dont think you are going to find many that have made those old school Bestop seats look like CJ Laredo seats. I am sure an upholstery shop could do it tho!

I've been shopping for a set of Laredo seats for 2+ years. Closest I came was the leather covers on Epay for $1500! I HAD a set that were all worn out, but I would have put NEW G-Cherokee heated/cooled, power seats in for the same $$$! One of my buds stold them from the parts room anyway.

I have laredo seats and had them recovered. The upholster used the worn out covers to create templates for the new material. They turned out really well.

Seems to me that a standard OEM high back CJ seat will work as the pattern is almost exactly the same except the "purse straps" on the Laredo seats. I'm guessing the set of covers you have gotten are the ones from George? They look spot on identical to the original OEM covers and I will be using these for my resto (I have OEM Laredo seats already but seat bottoms are shot)

Just got mine back from my upholstery guy. I opted for all black without the silver/gray trim and cloth that was on the original seats.jeepseats.jpg

So this is where all the stock, used Laredo seats are going? My CJ started as a lo-backed, boat wheel El-strippo. W/o a V8 I would have passed on it...maybe. I took everything that made it a Renegade from a wreck. Seats, S-wheel, Tach/clock, rollbar covers and even the clean hood. Bought rocker stickers though. Now, doing a frame off, I was gonna go Laredo.
Oh well, the pursuit is 1/2 the fun....right?

You guys have some beautiful seats!

I actually found the seat covers on good ole EBay...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-1986-JE...item257b9b8b98

I already had those old bestops but it looks like I need to keep searching for some OEM seats. Thanks for the heads up on YJ seats being the same!

Those look nice and all, and decent price, but are nothing compared to the ones that George has reproduced. From the pictures I can't differentiate his at all from the OEM, they may even be better than OEM. Those that you have listed from ebay look close from a distance but I see quite a few differences compared to original Laredo seat covers.
