CJ7 Hood - Crown or Omix?

Looking at hoods for my CJ7 rebuild, and looks like the choices boil down to Crown and Omix-ADA.

Any thoughts or other sources?

Thanks!

I would look for a good used hood. I found a rust-free, dent-free hood for my CJ5 only a few miles from my house on Craigslist for $100. To me the OEM sheet metal is more stout than the aftermarket. I put aftermarket fenders on the Jeep and they just don't seem as sturdy as the originals.

When you figure in the cost of shipping, there is no advantage to either of them. If you think you're receiving a product that won't be wavy and not in need of some body work, you're sorely mistaken. Find a used one.

I think Crown and OMIX are the same. I agree go for used.

I agree with everyone here: find a nice used one if possible. Bought my Crown hood on Amazon (free shipping with Prime), and this is how the FIRST hood arrived. Ya think it had a couple of scratches and dents with that packing job? Second hood was in perfect condition, which is more than I can say for the aftermarket fenders (that's another story).

I've been researching hoods as well. Seems Omix-ADA gets better reviews.

Been trying to find an OEM hood that is not all dinged/dented up in TX for the few months....haven't seen anything worth messing with.

^^^But that's the point we're trying to make; The new ones need bodywork as well.^^^

I think Crown and OMIX are the same quality for this type item. Good luck finding a used one if you are in a hurry, it could take you months to locate a used one.

We carry both, and are available for the new ones if you like....

I ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It needed a bit of work:

Haven't seen it on the CJ yet, so don't know about the fit.
