CJ7 Axle Maintenance

This weekend I am beginning my '79 CJ7 off-frame restoration. I plan to replace all of the u-joints, open up the differentials, go through the brakes, etc.

Is there anything I should do to the axles beyond just replacing the gear oil? Should the axles be checked out? Are there any seals I should replace?

I do not know what the Axles are right now. I am assuming they are AMC 20 on the front and Dana 30 on the rear.

(Please keep replies in laymen terms)

It would be amc 20 in the rear and dana 30 in the front.if the seals are'nt dry and cracked up and or leaking dont replace. put some grease on the seal rubber lip. Depends on how far you want to go with it................
