about the only progress on the 6 was the front clip comming back from media blasting - still waiting on a tilt sterring colum, thought I had one - it came in peices and is not complete.
then, the 64 needed a head gasket and the project morphed into a complete valve job since 2 exhaust valves were burnt. now that is is finished it is runnung much better

Are you putting a Saginaw steering box on this jeep?

Do you have any pictures of how you mounted it? I'm getting a 1969 CJ5 this weekend and I want to put Power steering in it and I needs some ideas for fabricating a front cross member, boxing the frame rails, and the scab plate. thanks

Did you put a reverse rotation box on it? I can weld and can use either my 130 amp mig or a giant Lincoln buzz box.

Just a standared power sterring box, this one was in a 74 cj5. I scavenged the crossmeber from the cj5 frame and welded it into the 6 frame.
Picked up a Gm sterring colum with the ignition and turn signals in the colum, rather than the older turn signal set up that clamps to the colom and the ignition in the dash. I had done this on my last jeep build so I still have the wiring diagrams I made. My mistake was not getting it from a jeep, as it was a tad bit to long. Spent all day modifying it (shortening) and fabricating the sterring rod to conect it to the box. It is done - it works great, now I can finally move forward. eventually, it will get replaced with a tilt colom, there just were not any around within my budget, so this will do for now.
I need to weld up the front floor channels. Then the tub will get flipped and Herc'd on the bottom. While that is going on I will be able to finallize the brake lines, fuel lines and exhaust.
Felt good to finally get back to the build

ok some updates - sorry - pics looked boring, so I did not take them - but hopefully pics will be better by the weekend
Been welding my face off - finished up the top side and flipped the tub over, placing it back on the body dolly that has been living in the back yard all summer. Did not work the back on this as I tossed the winch line over the center beam of the garage - managed to lift the tub off the frame with the push of a button
Spending a bit a extra time making sure I do not skip any welds as the tub is getting hurced on the bottom and inside. finished making the body chanels - whatever they are called, the suport channels that go allong the bottom of the tub, pretty handy having a buddy with a garage door compay, and plenty of access to the old style channel (insanely heavy) - I welded the channels together forming a box channel.
a lill bit a welding left - a good run with the cup brush and a good cleaning with xylene - then hurc time

You may want to consider something other than herc on the bottom. I have always been told that bedliners will trap moisture and create additional rust areas. If it were me, I would look into a rust preventative (Rust Bullet, POR, etc) and then topcoat with herc...
