CJ5 Top

I am thinking about running a YJ top on my CJ and just using the extra distance on the (custom) back roll bars. Does anyone know the measurements? Thanks.

Well the CJ5 is 10" shorter than the CJ7 or YJ if that is the dimension you are looking for as to how much overhang you have.

But the doors will be custom as the CJ5 has an "S" shaped opening and the CJ7/YJ is square.

one other hurdle is that the walls of the "bed area" on the CJ5 are shorter/not as tall as the ones on the 7 or YJ/TJ. Talking about vertical dimension here.

It's going to be the bikini top, so overlapping isn't a problem, I just want designs on top, and I want front and back coverage

It may help In the future to be a little more Specific, there are 3 different tops, hard, soft, and the bikini.

Or if you are lucky enough to find one the "Trek Top"... They are on a lot of JKs around here now.

I tried to find a pic, but cannot find one even. I know they were talked about in a thread on here last year, but search results didn't bring it up...

No clue. The trek top was a soft top that didn't use the rear bows, it followed the lines of the roll bar.

I've seen the steel ones go for between 400.00 to 1,800. It seems like the fiberglass are much more common for the later year CJ5s. I have also seen a couple instances where someone is selling their whole jeep and including the hardtop and price was low enough that you could have bought the jeep, taken the top and the resold and effectively paid very little for the top. Just keep your eyes open for deals.
