CJ5 Restoration Thread

Okay this is going to take me a while to complete because it is quite a project but I am going to take pictures every step of the way while I and some buddies restore a utility CJ5. Originally it was used by the gas company and only has 8,800 miles. It has been sitting for quite a while, it's a little rough, and needs some TLC but it'll be one of a kind when i'm done...Or atleast i hope. I bought it for $800.

thats the most unique 5 i have ever seen...

have fun and good luck finding all the parts you will need...

looks like a really fun project

love the seat covers....

never seen a dually jeep

Man, I'd love to have a CJ5 like that! Really cool with the dually and half cab..

'80 CJ5 w/AMC360, T176, D44 w/Detroit 4.56, RE 4" YJ lift and 35s..

Nice jeep id love for my 5 to be like that. im in the process of restoring too. but mine is easy it came with a fiberglass tub and fenders but needs complete suspension and interior

Man that thing is sweet! I love that little half cab. Good luck with the build and hope it don't take too long cause I can't wait to see the progress!

SWEET! So are you going to use the F-head engine? and rebuild the what is most likely a t-90 transmission, and so on and so forth? or will you drop in something else? I'm going to kick back and watch this

BTW those leaf spring packs make my one ton truck's leaf packs look tiny!

I'm using all the stuff thats on it. It's only got 8,800 miles on it so it should be alright...i hope. It even still has the orignal tires on it. Oh and yeah those springs are HUGE! lol and the coils that are with those leafs are quite beafy too! lol
